Hangar House

Day 523 - Weekend Update

Friday, December 15 - We made our first weekend escape to HangarHouse today. Hopefully we can work the schedule to get up here at least twice a month.

Here is an update of what has been going on at the house...

John repaired many areas in the bathrooms' shower tile where cracks had formed from drying out. John and Dave completed the horrible job of retiling the master bath shower pan. Today John grouted the pan and will finished the remaining areas on Monday...

SOOOOOOO, much better!

Dave worked on fixing the installation of the dumbwaiter doors in the laundry room. Those doors seems to have swollen/warped during staining. Will have to work on a fix for this.

We drove up Friday with Mike's car stuffed to the gills with more essentials for the house. Two more chrome shelving units (110 lbs each) for the hangar, more kitchen items, the computer for the weather station, storage boxes for the hangar and garage, lots of little things, and more.

We cleaned out the one garage bay with the door and parked the car in the garage. It will be nice to have it inside now.

One item we brought was rabbit ears for the TV. They don't work inside -- much like the satellite radio. The antenna has to be outside to have any effect. It seems our highly efficient house blocks out some RF signals, although the cell phones work inside when Verizon's cell tower is actually working. So we'll have to have outside antennas for all our goodies.

It was a COLD and clear weekend despite the forecast for snow and rain. When we left Monday morning at 6am, the temperature on the deck was 14 degrees. Burrr.
