Day 517 - Test Fire

Thursday, December 7 - Being that most of the fire department was in town, awake, and sober, Kelli lit a Presto log in our wood stove at 10:00 a.m. as a test of the installation. All went perfectly. She followed the Presto log with five oak logs burned one at a time to keep a low fire and gas off the new paint. There was quite a bit of smell. Thank goodness for a fan mode in the heating systems, our air exchange system, and a huge ceiling fan. Pretty cool, huh?

This is how the day started :-) The view from the master bedroom. But "red sky at night ..., red sky at morning..." There is rain and snow forecasted for tomorrow.

But, no fog this morning. Dave and Rick set some base rock. Ken thinks that he may be able to get asphalt, we'll see. Dave and Rick also set bender board to corral the Coral Sea rocks...

After applying another layer of grout to the pool bath tile, John moved on to demo'ing the master bathroom shower pan. This didn't take much effort since most of the 6x6 tiles were hardly attached and popped up. In the second picture, where you can see the trawl marks, are places that the tiles were not stuck. Sigh... Glad we made the decision to pull up the whole thing and redo it...

Richard came up to move the expansion tanks to the inlet side of the water heaters, tighten up all the toilets, and fix the guest bath tub filler...

The kitchen takes shape...
