Day 499 - Clean Up

Monday, November 6 - We were supposed to pour concrete this morning, but the truck got delayed at its first stop of the morning. So we rescheduled for 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. Ready for concrete. The rain is suppposed to hold off until noon.

Making use of some extra hands, we gave all leftover parts and pieces to Ken (the guys hauled the stuff away), got the hangar picked up, burnable wood was hauled away, and did a run to the dump to empty the 8 garbage cans. The garage and hangar look a little better...

The painting crew worked more of their magic as they near the end of the painting. They will come back one or two more days to do the faux painting and finish the interior and exterior.

Here are our heroes... Gary, Gary, Lance, and Richard:

The silver lining to a concrete delay was that we also had a nice, mild weather day. So, Dave and Rick worked on the safety barrier railing along the retaining wall. We all agreed that the fence turned out better than we had expected--using concrete blocks and 20-year old heavily weathered redwood rails.

Dave says that measuring for the angled cut of the rail end at each post, notching the rail for the metal bar, and getting the rail to fit correctly is a challenge. Each rail is a different shape and every column connection point has a different angle.

They have only two more rail sections to complete and a couple of rocks to remove in order for two bottom rails to set correctly.

Scott, from Mandina Cabinets, came up to finish the breakfast bar column molding...

Mike was grounded this weekend due to weather. He made the 5-hour drive in order to officially signal our successful final inspection by taking down the building permit...
