Day 492 - Seven Items

Thursday, October 26 -- Just seven items keep us from getting final signoff from the county. The inspector came up this morning for the inspection and left us a pretty easy list:

  • 2 outlet problems (One was fixed this afternoon, getting a new outlet tomorrow for the other)

  • One of the power cables for the spa tub needs to be secured better.

  • Get the wood stove installed so that the stove is on record as being inspected by the county for insurance purposes (We are getting the stone slab that the stove sits on tomorrow and have all the stovepipe parts.)

  • Box in the ABS plastic septic pipe in the hangar so that, in a fire, the pipe will not melt right away leaving a path for the fire into the house. (Done...the painters were already scheduled to come up on Monday, so they can texture and paint the soffit.)

  • Add a bolt latch on the hangar dumbwaiter door so that, in a fire, the heat "wind" does not pull the door open, therefore creating a path for fire into the house (Fixed this morning.)

  • The exhaust pipe for the attic heater units may need a 45 degree termination, depending on the installation instruction. (Our HVAC contractor is checking on this.)

Not bad for thousands of hours of work on a gazillion details by dozens of workers. We should have these items done by next Thursday for another inspection. The building inspector is only in our area on Mondays and Thursdays.

Wood-meister John B finished our stairwell and balcony railings. Beautiful work. Thanks John!

John D finished installing the foyer tile. The foyer looks SO different...

Rick worked on the south pathway steps...

We got some door work done--door sweeps, door adjustments, and our final access door...
