Day 475 - Rain Prep

Tuesday, October 3 -- The forecast is for some rain tomorrow and Thursday. So we spent most of the day getting ready.

Dave and John reinstalled a few of the downspouts that had to be moved for railings. Note the nice job John did on the stone on the porch to get the downspout under the toe rail...

Last in the day was building the planter boxes on the north side. With rain coming, we need to get as much of the soil piled up in front of the house moved somewhere before it turns into mud. Finding a rock that fits and getting it turned and placed takes a lot of work. Ken and Dave shared the excavator duties. With all the tractor work around the yard, our dirt has turned into clay powder. There is dirt everywhere and on everything. A good rain would be nice to rinse the house...

As we waited for Ken to bring over the skid loader, Dave installed the pool table light and helped John installed the handrails in the garage and hangar. Kelli did more deck railing sanding.

Rick got the awful job of drilling out some granite rocks and cement gravel for the apron slab framing. He spent all day chipping out about 10 feet...

We are still "discussing" the apron design with the county airport department. So not much action forward until we come to a workable solution. Nothing is easy.

Oh... the glass company came up late this afternoon to measure for glass in the first floor and the master showers. And Carmona's service man stopped by to look at the malfunctioning clothes washer and ice maker. He took the electronic door closed detection unit from the washer, and he'll research the drippy ice maker.

We may get our interior stair and balcony metal railings installed this week - wie'll see -- and the final associated woodwork done the first part of next week.
