Day 472 - Ipé 5

Thursday, September 28 -- First... Happy Birthday, Mike - 9/27!

Where was Kelli yesterday? House shopping of course. It was another whirlwind trip to Redding to get bender boards, railroad ties for steps, extra floor tile, extra vinyl composite tile, and stovepipe, pick up trim for the refrigerator panels, check out the slab for the wood stove, and set up an appointment with the glass company to measure for our master and pool bathrooms. Haircut and grocery shopping. Whew!

Today, Dave and Rick finished the ipé deck railing cap! The cap is about 5" wide, so plenty of room to set your cocktail. The deck is 95% done. There are just few odds and ends and fixes to complete...

Some nice woodwork... (We should hold a contest to guess how Dave did the fitting in the second picture. Remember, the ipé has been snapping drill bits and dulling saw blades after just a few cuts.)

Since we are short a few "picture frame" tiles for the kitchen backsplash recess, John went back to installing the vinyl composite tile. He got the laundry room landing done. He also installed some of the stair edging...

Most of Kelli's day was spent on the master shower pan...

At the end of the day, Dave started on the challenge to install rope light in the master bedroom vanity toe kick...

Yesterday evening, Kelli snapped this picture of the Bar Complex fire flaring up, from the Tops Market parking lot in Weaverville. The fire is up to nearly 89,000 acres, combined containment is 33%, cost to date to fight: $50 million. They are making a big deal on Fox News about a fire in southern California burning since Labor Day. The Bar Complex has been burning for 60 days now and has cost more. I guess we don't have enough voters up here to make the news.
