Day 452 - One Step Back

Wednesday, August 30 -- In the light of morning and a night's rest, Kelli checked out the metal railings and tried out the placement of the wood balusters and handrail. Sigh... a list of problems. Our best guess it that the entire stair railing unit will have to be redone, the balcony railing might be able to be saved, and the front stair railing needs work.

To take out her frustration, Kelli grabbed the belt sander and went to work on the hangar stairs. The steps need to be sanded before applying the non-slip coating. There was 2 years of paint primer, drywall mud, wall texture, paint, and dirt on treads.

Those layers came off in a huge cloud of white dust. Kelli and the hangar were covered in white powder.

See the white edges on the step treads? That is what the entire tread looked like...

Our John grouted the laundry room counters. His first independent job looks very good...

Tomorrow John joins Kelli in the stairs sanding fun. He gets to work on the garage steps.

A perfect day weather-wise here today. We had a strong breeze after lunch until at least 4:30 p.m.--white caps on the lake. Mike flies up tomorrow for a long holiday break!!!!
