Day 451 - Railing #1
Tuesday, August 29 -- John, Kelli,
and Richard worked on respective projects -- tile, cleanup, plumbing
-- this morning waiting for the Mountain Gate crew to arrive with the
front and interior stair railings.
Mountain Gate arrived at about 11:30 after a 4 1/2 hr drive. The
railing looks very nice. The mahogany balusters, rail cap, and hand
rails will be installed by "wood" John tomorrow. Today was a long day.
We all left the site at 8:15 p.m. ...

The crew took the curved part of the front stairs back to the shop
with them. There was too much welding and painting work to do, not
enough light, and too much chance to make mistakes due to being tired.
Cyrus, Brian, Mikie, and crew will be back on Tuesday.
Richard installed the spa tub faucets (picture below of our first
tub fill), installed more sink faucets, garbage disposals (we still
need 90 degree plugs for these), worked on the hangar sump pump (no
luck, and the pipe is not plugged), hooked up the propane to the range
and wok, added three access panels under the island sink (we can now
get to the GFI, valves, and outlets without having to drop the garbage
disposal) and a bunch of other tasks. Richard will not be back until
the end of next week - maybe...
Some "maybe" good news -- Kelli told Ken about the leak
under the garage slab. Ken suggested to Richard that Richard fish Pex
water pipe through the copper pipe. Richard wasn't sure that this would
be possible, but Ken went and got the Pex anyway. Richard tried and
got the Pex all the way through, after some problem with a smashed
area. Richard is going to pressure test the Pex next time onsite.
John helped out everyone during the day and found moments to work
on the soapstone tile. We are one edge piece short of completing
the project. But, John will grout the three counter areas tomorrow
and we will add the last piece later.
Here is John "customizing" the gutter so that the front railing could
be installed...

A visitor today...
