Day 450 - Stair Posts and Wrap

Monday, August 28 --Wood John worked all weekend and finished his part of the stair/balcony project. The metal fabricators, however, were a no-show. Sigh. They should be here tomorrow. So, John left to go home until Wednesday.

John got the office pony wall cap done. It is very awesome! The surface is polished. He trimmed out the balcony fascia and stair landing and completed and installed the stair post and faux post covers. These pictures aren't very good and don't do justice to his great work. The mahogany trim and cap are the color of the bamboo floor and are rich with grain.

This next picture shows the alder and mahogany color the best...

Tile John continued work on the laundry room counters...

Richard was onsite to start the final plumbing work. We have a couple of issues to deal with: 1) the hangar sump pump doesn't work. The pump alone is fine, but water does not lift when the pump is connected to the pipes 2) There is a leak in the water line that runs under the garage slab. Richard did not place this pipe. There is nothing that we can do about this, short of digging up the garage slab. But, we can isolate the garage valves, so a major inconvenience, but not a disaster.

Richard worked on hooking up the garbage disposals, faucets, ice maker, gas range, gas wok, and drilling the final faucet hole (in the laundry room.)

Kelli got to the site at 11:30 after driving up from Richmond and stopping in Redding to pick up light trims, grout, and look at a slab option for under the wood stove.
