Day 445 - Regroup
Monday , August 21 -- We spent
much of the day discussing the tasks that need to be done for final
inspection and their priority as we work around the trade's changing
schedules:
- The metal fabricators had to move their work days from today and
tomorrow to Wednesday and Thursday due to having to wait for replacement
metal for the railings. Some of the metal tubing in the first shipment
was crushed. Therefore, our interior stair craftsmen had to move
their day out one day in order to synchronize their work.
- Pacific Crest Granite should be here Thursday morning to cut facet
holes and install the missing/now-found soapstone around the wok
- Richard should be here Friday to work on plumbing
This is all Plan B.
Dave and Rick continued work on the deck, including fishing the power
cords through the channels in the deck planks...

John started prepping the garage and hangar stairs for the non-slip
coating and railings...

Kelli depleted her cell battery making calls to vendors and the trades.
Ken went on a shopping trip to Redding to get supplies for our house
and his other projects. He is picking up our closet lights, exterior
caulking, deck nails, and tile supplies for installing the laundry
soapstone counter.
Bonus Work Day
Over the weekend, we got more work done. Dave worked on the deck--cutting
and installing deck boards for the south edge picture frame and doing
more light wiring...

Mike installed most of the switch and receptacle plates (some of which required the switches to be pulled out and reinstalled in the packed boxes), and Kelli vacuumed,
mopped, oiled soapstone, and unwrapped the kitchen range. This is the
first time we have seen the range without its protective plastic...

And we got to relax each afternoon on "Dave's" deck...

Mike found the 2 missing pieces of soapstone. They were carefully
packed in a wooden pocket on the slab crate. Five of us had missed
the very well constructed pocket.
The weather was very nice this weekend with some light smoke from
the fires north northwest of us that are still burning. |
