Day 434 - Hangar Face Stone Done Friday , August 4 -- A productive day. Pete finished up the last of the stone on the hangar wings and John applied the grout... Pete cut and installed the wing "caps"... Dave and Rick cut 3 sides of the deck boards and the center strip before the temperature got beyond our 65 degree cutting range... Dave and Rick then moved on to starting installing water lines... More crushed rock is delivered... Kelli applied cleaner to the remaining stained end of the hangar door trim. It is almost all clean, except for a few spots to redo. Then she put a second coat of paint on the trim flashing and the trim... Ken and Dave worked on the grading on the north side of the house along the garage. We set the first of the landscaping boulders... There is still smoke in the air. Saturday as we are writing this in Trinity Center, we can smell the smoke for the first time this week. Here are a few fire website images that show the problem up here... Saturday's fire map... US Forest Service http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/ The following map is created daily and is also on the US Forest Service page http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/ (Click on Regional Maps in the left navigation bar, then click on the state of California in the US map. An image of the California N/S & Great Basin West displays. Select either the JPG or PDF version.) In the large image that is linked to the picture below, I put in a purple arrow to show our location: The full version of the above map is at http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/fireplots/cgb2006217_0700.jpg Here in an interesting NOAA site http://www.firedetect.noaa.gov/viewer.htm that I found this morning. They use their satellites to detect and plot smoke and hot spots... |
