Day 426 - Interior Stairs #2
Tuesday , July 25 -- South and
John pressed on and the stairs are taking shape. The polyurethane finish
is drying slower than expected due to the higher humidity over the last
two days. By 6:00 p.m., South had the upper flight of stairs done.
The combination of the alder and mahogany is turning out great. Each
piece gets three coats of finish.
Here are picture from throughout the process...

The garage/workshop...
Cyrus Farrell, owner of Mountain Gate in Garberville, drove up to
review our project and take measurements. Cyrus and South went to school
together and have done past projects together. I am excited about our
decisions and visualizing all the parts taking shape.
UPS delivered one of our deck lights (at least we have one as a template),
the front stair step lights, the laundry room garage landing light, and
the narrow fluorescent lights for one side of Mike's closet.
Our kitchen soapstone counters and sinks will be in Sacramento by Friday.
Today the shipment is in Chicago. The shipment weight is 3,250 pounds.
Throughout the day, this helicopter (I think it is the logging
helicopter than has been in the area all summer) flew back and forth
from the airport. I don't know if they were training or fighting a fire.
The day started out nice and cool (64 degrees), but moved into the "yuck"
zone of 100 degrees in the shade by 3:00 p.m. as the afternoon cloud
buildup increased the humidity.
