Friday , July 21 -- We woke up to a 100% cloud cover this morning and sprinkles. The temperature was a big change from yesterday's blazing sun. We had showers on and off through out the day, sometimes even needing to turn on the car windshield wipers. The temperatures were still in the upper 80s as was the humidity, but a nice change from the rest of the week. Pete and John were the only faithful workers onsite today, pushing the stone project to its end. Everyone else was either taking the day off, running other errands (Ken headed to Medford to return the pallets that the stone came on and to pick up five more boxes of stone corners, the abutment ledger caps, and the air conditioner disconnects), or working on other projects. Kelli spent today focusing on the cabin. She left for Weaverville at 7:30 to do desperately needed grocery shopping to fill a very empty refrigerator and to get some plants for the cabin deck planters. She then washed the cabin deck, set up some water sprinklers in some dry areas, picked up around the yard, and "mowed" both lots with the weedeater. The place looks a LOT better now. By the time Mike flew in from Oakland at 7:00 p.m., the overcast had just dissipated. Rain... a break from house construction.. and checking off some long standing "to dos" made today a nice change of pace. |
