Day 217 - Smurf'd
Tuesday, September 13 -- Today we
got smurf'd.
"Smurf" is slang for the blue plastic tubing that is used for
high-tech wiring conduit. The conduit will be empty -- it's there for
the future in case we need to pull additional wires after all the walls
are closed in. Jim and Greg wove the smurf tube through the house from
the wiring closet to the attic, around the great room, and to the office.
Here the smurf is feed from the A/V cabinet to the two floor outlets
in the great room...
Smurf ending up in the wiring closet...

So where does the word "smurf" come from? Well, the closest definition
related to the blue pipe is:
- The Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs in French) comprise a
fictional race of small blue creatures who live in a forest somewhere
in Europe. The Belgian cartoonist Peyo introduced Smurfs to the world,
but English-speakers perhaps know them best through the animated
television series from Hanna-Barbera Productions.
And, there is another definition:
- The verb "to smurf" is also a technical term related
to money laundering. It refers to the practice of dividing up large
illicit bank deposits into smaller individual transactions, each
below the limit beyond which a bank must identify or report the
transaction. Somebody who smurfs is a smurf (noun) in this context.
Ya learn something every day.
And, they started pulling local speaker wires... Garage door
opener wires installed...

Marc, Dave, and Mark spent the day installing fascia board in order
to get ahead of the roofers. (Who didn't show up today, but should be
here tomorrow.) They got the east side done and much of the west. We
are working through the planks.

Then after everyone was done, the Forest Service stopped in to practice
landings... They did some very nice, smooth landings and takeoffs.
